The
old narrative of unnecessary show of political force and greediness which have
become the order of the day in Nigeria's political landscape seems to have
reared its ugly head again this time in Ogun State.
And if information at our
disposal is anything worthy of consideration, then,Hon. Oludare Oluwatimileyin
Kadiri is the member representing Ijebu North II State Constituency which
covers Ago-Iwoye, Oru, Awa, Mamu, Ilaporu, Ako and others,is presently on a
blackmail mission to frustrate on going development efforts for the people of
the state constituency after his alleged unsuccessful attempts to muscle out
kickback from federal government contractors from the area.
According
to an insider source of one of the construction handling some federal
government ecological fund projects in Ijebu North part of Ogun state, the
lawmaker, Hon. Oludare Kabiri who had made frantic efforts to meet the owner of
the contracted company in charge of the major development projects facilitated
to bring succor to people in the area had started a campaign of calumny after
his efforts to unlawfully make money from the contractors in the area met a
brick wall.
He had
allegedly stormed the site with thugs disrupting construction works posing as
treat to workers who were carefully drawn from the community as his hoodlums
were reportedly resisted by the community who is one of the biggest beneficiary
of the project in terms of of supply of materials and labour handling the
construction job.
It was
gathered that the lawmaker had indicted the contractor of doing a substandard
job knowing fully well he had approached the companies top hierarchy including
the Chief Engineer of Haleem services to settle him claiming he was part of the
lead facilitator the contract to the area being his constituency.
Investigations
revealed that the lawmaker's alleged frustrations began when he at different
occasions threaten workers at site on demand to see the chairman of the
contracted firm and leaving instructions to be contacted which later led to his
demands of bribe from the Contractors who called him to query to understand
why he had been distorting work at the construction sites.
Those
in the know inform that he had also confided in a federal lawmaker of his
blackmail actions since he hasn't illegally benefited from the contract which
his meant to ease the sufferings of people of the area.
According
to a leaked chat between the Hon. Dabiri and a federal lawmaker, he had
threatened to report the companies at the plenary of the Ogun state house of
assembly. The act regarded as a cheap blackmail had open can of worms that is
deliberately orchestrated extort funds from contractors who had adhere to
strict project specification in delivery a world class result that will bring
stand the test of time.
The
Contractors who had applauded the speaker of the State Assembly, explained that
it is ridiculous for an honorable member of the house to malign the name of her
firm on the floor of the house without any concrete evidence to back his
frivolous accusations.
Though the Speaker, Rt Hon. Suraj Adekunmbi had
corrected the aggrieved lawmaker, those in the know squealed that the company
remains one of the best in handling ecological jobs and had delivered world
class services in Lagos, Abuja and other southern part of the country.
The construction
giant known for his professionalism had never at any point jettison quality of
service delivery for anything and the lawmaker had since goofed with his
substantiated and unfounded allegations on the on-going projects.
The
firm through its spokesperson expresses its disappointment in politicians who
employ cheap blackmail to get companies to dance to their tune instead of
joining hands to bring succor to the electorate's yearning of dividend of
democracy. He also added that its important for politicians to
passionately shun selfless and politics of hate and witch-hunting for cheap
funds.
