In its bid to ensure continued promotion of industrial safety and healthy society, the State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment towards enacting legislations aimed at protecting the environment and overall well-being of the people.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon.Suraju Ishola Adekunbi said this while playing host to a delegation from the Environment and Safety Management Institute led by its South West Regional Coordinator, Abdulahi Omeiza during a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Assembly at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Adekunbi said that the State had been achieving the success of its industrialisation efforts, through the provision of necessary machineries meant to promore safety and healthy living in all the industries operating in the State.
He enjoined the institute to liaise with the State Ministry of Environment to establish operational guidelines for the sustainability of friendly policies to boost business investment in the State, adding that the Assembly was irrevocably committed to putting in place legislations to develop all sectors of the State economy.
Earlier in his submission, Omeiza submitted that the institution which set standards, accredit courses and qualifications for the staff of companies on environment and safety measures, had concluded plans to introduce compulsory human capacity development programmes for all categories of workers in all factories across the State.
He explained that the institute was equally responsible for promoting best practices in safety and environment issues including professional certification as well as the conferment of National and International Service Excellence Awards.
In another development, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Suraju Ishola Adekunbi commended the student of the Scholar Universal Secondary School, Ota, Ajisafe Solomon for doing the State proud by emerging second overall best Student in the just concluded 2018 Federal Government 774- Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential scholarship award.
He described the award as another major achievement and a pointer to the fact that education remained one of the major cardinal programmes of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led -administration in the State.
Adekunbi gave the commendation at the Assembly plenary, while responding to the submission of a member representing Ado-Odo/Ota I State Constituency, Hon. Akinpelu Aina, who spoke under Personal Explanation that the award was another milestone in the history of the State having invested massively in the sector.
