Ajisafe Solomon of Scholars Universal Secondary School, Sango, Ogun State has emerged second position at this year’s final of the 774 young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award.
Receiving the award in her office, the State commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota, commended the awardee and his school for the feat, saying the achievement did not come to her as a surprise, but as a testimony to the fact that the State had always been known to produce the best in all human endeavours.
While urging the contestant to strive to be the overall best winner in future competition, she enjoined other students to take a cue from Master Solomon by studying hard to emerge the best in whatever they find themselves doing.
“As you know, our State is always known to produce the best. This is not a surprise to me. I enjoined the awardee and others to always ensure they emerge the best in whatsoever they do,’’ the Commissioner said.
Also speaking at the occasion, the proprietor of the school, Alonge Timothy, attributed the feat to the support given to the school by the Commissioner and officials in the Ministry, commending the giant strides and transformation currently going on in the State.
The competition, held at Eagles Square, Abuja, was organised by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, to develop the interest of young Nigerians in the sciences from the 774 Local Government Areas of the country through competitive examination.
