A fore runner of the Ogun West Senatorial District and former Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Gbeleyi during an interactive session with the group known as "The Parliament under the Tree" based in Abeokuta with members cut across Ogun State, Rt Hon Gbeleyi was promoting continuity of governor Ibikunle Amosun's administration, at the meeting held on Thursday, 5th April, 2018 in Abeokuta.
OBG urged members of the Parliament to support Governor SIA’s succession plan for the good people of Ogun State to continue to enjoy a sustained development in the State.
The session which also had in attendance members of the press, charged the former Rt. Hon. Deputy Speaker not to be a passive member of the Senate, but to be an active Senator that would contribute at both national and State levels if given the opportunity by his Senatorial District of OgunWest.
The group also enjoined the ex-Assembly man to give the youth in the district a chance to participate in the coming governance to enable continuity to prevail.
Questioning him on human management, Hon. Gbeleyi enumerated the processes and procedures he would put in place to make sure the dividends of democracy extend to all five Local Government Areas of Ogun West Senatorial District.
He assured that there would be regular parliamentary consultative meetings which he would personally anchor with all Reps and House of Assembly members to update the people on Government activities from the Federal and the State respectively.
The Honourable also warned that the Nigerian senate might collapse should the senators, despite their huge allocations, refuse to cater for the welfare of the people.
Gbeleyi, who is contesting for the Ogun west Senatorial District under the platform of the All progressive Party made this known while speaking with some learned indigenes drawn from his constituency in Abeokuta, the State capital.
The Consultant to Governor Ibikunle Amosun on Energy said that if the senators did not desist from the habit of sleeping or not raising bills in favour of the people's welfare at the National Assembly, the people might turn their back against them.
He
said "We must guarantee the welfare of the people. In the constitution of Nigeria,1999, as amended says "Guarantee the welfare of the citizens", and this APC our party is already experimenting the implementation."

He therefore sounded a note of warning to the senators using the office to acquire wealth for themselves that if they did not change their ways, such act might lead to the collapse of the office.
He said "Our people(senators) should understand that acquiring wealth is not going to solve the problem is going to endanger and make the system collapse because it will come to a time that all the wealth you acquire you wont be able to enjoy it and you wont be able to drive on the road free if you don't take care of the poor".
