…..Promises infrastructural upgrade for Ota, Agbara and environs.
More
endorsements have come the way of Gubernatorial Candidate of the
African Democratic Congress in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka,
as he bagged the endorsement of all Awori monarchs from Ogun West
district of the state.
This
latest installment is following on the heels of the rousing
endorsements done by the Yewa Traditional Council, Yewa Development
Forum and that of Former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The
two time gubernatorial candidate also promised to upgrade
infrastructure around the length and breadth of Ado-Odo/Ota local
government that is predominantly Awori.
Isiaka
fondly called GNI made this known on Tuesday when he led party
chieftains from across the state and other candidates from the region on
a consultative visit to the Olota of Ota, Oba (Dr) AbdulKabir Adeyemi
Obalanlege and the entire Council of Awori Obas.
Soliciting
the support of the monarch over his governorship ambition, GNI noted
that having toured all wards in the local government area at least on
two occasions, he is not unaware of the challenges faced by residents of
the area.
Isiaka while
describing the local government in glowing terms, said “Ado-Odo/Ota is
the base of Aworis and is quite unique and special for many reasons.
Anyone that wants development of Ogun State must not look down on
Ado-Odo/Ota. The incoming administration under my watch would give
special attention to development of cities that border Lagos, with
Ado-Odo/Ota being a prime beneficiary”.
“I
can say for a fact that Ota and its environs is very dear to me. We are
talking about one of the educational hub of Ogun State with three
universities here. This is also the commercial and industrial hub of
this state and indeed Nigeria. The voting population here is also
significantly high. Lagos is in the stomach of Ogun State and that is
talking of Ota”.
Lamenting
the dearth of good roads in the area, Isiaka remarked, “Most of our
roads here are in utter disrepair. Agbara and Igbesa are prime examples.
Majority of the IGR in Ogun State comes from Ota, yet the roads are in a
state of emergency. As your son that will become governor in 2019, road
infrastructure, especially the internal and community ones, will be one
of our cardinal programs. The kind of nightmare that we are presently
experiencing on our roads will be changed”; He assured.
He
added, “Employment generation is one of our focus especially with the
large concentration of companies in Ota. We shall achieve this through
skills acquisition and qualitative education that prepares graduates for
the ever-competitive labour market. Government’s responsibility is to
create an enabling environment and policies for employment
opportunities. My experience in the public sector would stand me in good
stead in helping our teeming youths get job opportunities.”
The
chairman of the council and Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Adeyemi
Obalanlege while responding, praised Isiaka for his courage and
resilience. He said, “I have observed you from a long time now and I
must salute your courage and doggedness. You are a good and honourable
man and I can only wish you success at the polls next year”.
Continuing,
“You are aware of the socioeconomic challenges around here, so I do not
need to enumerate it again. You have our prayers and support.
Thereafter,
the Obas took turn to pray and bless Isiaka as he embarks on a campaign
that will give ultimate victory to the Yewa-Aworis.
