The former house of representative member,Hon. Rotimi Makinde, has underscored the need for the new leadership of the house of representatives as presently constituted to close their ranks,so that with a united front, they could develop the institution and be a partner in progress for President Muhammad Buhari .
Makinde made the call shortly after the victory of Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila who emerged as Speaker of the 9th assembly.
Professionally, we all know Femi Gbajabiamila is up to the task as a veteran in the game of legislation but this present exalted position requires plenty of courage and sacrifice to manage and to come out clean.
Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila will now be saddled to manage and operate at a different frequency and to deal with 360 members who are from different backgrounds and with different characters who will always expect him to relate with them as colleagues and not as boss.
He said he will love to be quick to advice that Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila close ranks, avoid malice with all those he had encountered in the course of his many experiences in the house and especially the immediate past leaders.
To think Rt. Hon Yakub Dogara is no longer in charge or lost the gribs of the house is to underate the power and the influence of been a speaker for a full term.
He said, luckily for this set of people, the speaker and his deputy Hon. Idris Wase are old gurus and masters in the game of national assembly politics.
He therefore humbly pray for their successful tenure,it has never been so good like this for our party.
Hon Rotimi Makinde
