The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State
Council, led by Comrade Soji Amosu, has congratulated the newly appointed Chief
Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr. Kunle Somorin.
In a congratulatory message signed by the Secretary
of the union, Comrade Ayokunle Ewuoso, the NUJ described the appointment as
just and fair.
The Union eulogised the Governor, Prince (Dr) Dapo
Abiodun, for appointing a thoroughbred professional as his image maker, saying
the move remains the beginning of sound, eventful and mutually beneficial
relationship between the State Government and journalists in the state and the
nation at large.
It stressed that the appointment of the new CPS did
not come to members of the union as a surprise judging from his profession
antecedents.
The Union however called on Somorin to relate with
journalists in the state as veritable partners in progress.
NUJ therefore advised the Governor to ensure that
the newly appointed CPS maintain state cabinet membership status as this will
go a long way in the discharge of his duties.
It further urged the Governor to ensure that other
appointments being awaited by people of the state are filled by competent
professionals and committed personalities that are ready to join hands with the
Governor to achieve his lofty dream of taking the State to greater heights.
