The truck was arrested along with the driver , Daniel Rufus for reckless driving on 19/6/2019 along Adatan Obantoko axis of Abeokuta Ogun State by the officers of VIO from their operational office at Kotopo in Abeokuta .
An eye witness who gave account of the story said the driver was asked to stop before he approached the officers of the VIO but he refused to stop as he used the truck to chase the officers away from the road .
Then they pursued him until when he was forced to stop by heavy traffic jam he met at Somorin bus stop . One of the VIO officers who entered through the other side of the door , asked him why he drove like that . But Mr Daniel Rufus , the driver of the truck asked him to Jum down or he would drive him away .
It took the intervention of the DPO of Obantoko ,S P, Olasunkanmi Popoola who was on patrol along with his men that saw then before he was arrested and was taken to police station .
When the driver was asked why he drove that way when he was interrogated , he said " it is a normal thing " .
The driver was charged to Magistrate Court sitting in Odeda under Chief Magistrate Babajide Iwa for dangerous driving and other offenses . Mr Daniel Rufus has since been remanded in prison custody while the matter has been adjourned till July 18 for another hearing .
An officer from the VIO who did not want his name to be mentioned told us that some of the Dangote truck drivers don't have respect for human lives particularly when they see uniform me on the road .But this will serve as a deterrent to others .
