The foremost female governorship aspirant in the history of Bayelsa State , Diseye Nsirim Poweigha has taken bull by the horn to address infrastructural decay and all other security challenges confronting the state .
Mrs Diseye Nsirim Poweigha , who is a former commissioner of police made this known during the flag off of her campaign and opening of her campaign office located at Ogbolo road , Bayelsa State .
According to her , " Broad access to critical infrastructure namely : education and health facilities, good roads networks , housing and urban renewal, water and sanitation are very challenging .The state has a lot of rural slums which could be transformed to modern centres with tourist appeal .
" We shall build new , expand and revamp some existing roads , build intersections on very busy roads and bridges that connect our community " she said .
On education , the former commissioner of police promised to develop primary , secondary and tertiary health institutions with direct programme predicated at protecting infant and maternal mortalities , malaria, tuberculosis . She vowed to change the narration of their clinics and hospital which according to her has turned to mere consulting clinics .
Bayelsa state is an oil producing state since creation of the state . The APC gubernatorial candidate promised to look beyond oil and go into serious agricultural business because the state has a lot of agricultural potentials which are waiting to be harnessed .
The security expert said the only way to have socio -economic stability and peace is when there is adequate security .She therefore promised to create good security architecture that will connect the whole state .
She frowned at the names people within and outside called Bayelsa people saying they are the best people in the world . She said instead of them to establish companies where the children can work they did not but they called them names.
Also , speaking on her chances in the coming primary election of the All Progressive Congress , Lady Edema Irom who is the National Female Leader of Bulana Support Group said " the APC is very very gender friendly and we are just coming out of an election and most of the issues we have were from the primaries. So, there is not going to be a repeat in Bayelsa anymore . "
"Because you hear direct or indirect . They did primary , they did not do primary .They submitted a name , they did not submit a name . Imagine the issues in Zamfara , River State and others . We have resolved as a party that in Bayelsa and Kogi State there is going to be a reversal of the trend . If it is direct it is direct.
She is a new trend around here and I think that having tried something consistently is not working , it is only natural that things should work this way. I see her pulling through. I am a national officer and I came here to honoured her . " She said .
Mrs Diseye Nsirim Poweigha advised the people of Bayelsa state to vote for her because government affairs since creation of Bayelsa state has been men and men affairs . She then vowed to empower women generally if elected into office.
