The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta has announced commencement of academic activities from Monday, January 11, 2020, for its fresh and old students.
The announcement followed the approval by the Senate of the University which met yesterday, January 7, 2021, at a session presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Felix Kolawole Salako.
According to a press statement by the institution's Registrar, Dr Bola Adekola, Senate approved the commencement of the 2019/2020 Academic Session from Monday January 11, 2020.
Under the new arrangement, lectures for the First Semester are to begin from Monday, January 25, 2021 while examination for the semester will start on April 6, even as the 2nd Semester Examination is to begin on July 19
The Registrar's statement read: "Senate noted the challenging circumstances facing the world today through the COVID-19 pandemic and its attendant effects on crowd management, social distancing and the need to maintain the non-pharmaceutical protocols in controlling the spread of the disease.
"It therefore approved that lectures for the 2019/2020 Academic Session shall commence through a tailored virtual platform to ensure the realization of hitch free resumption plan for the session.
"To this extent, all students of the University would be introduced and trained online on a new platform for teaching and learning as stated in the approved calendar.
"Students are to log on to the University’s Student portal (https://portal.unaab.edu.ng) from January 11, 2021 for their training and other details on the virtual platforms for their lectures".
Dr Adekola disclosed that Orientation, ICT & VLE Training for fresh students are to start from Monday, January 11 till Friday, January 22, 2021, ditto also for returning students.
According to him, first semester lectures will begin (online) from Monday, January 25, 2021.
But, Adekola stressed that late registration with penalty is to begin on Friday, February 5, 2021, with the Registration Portal closing by Sunday, February 14, 2021.
Speaking further, the Registrar also announced that the Matriculation for fresh students will hold on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, alongside the 62nd Inaugural Lecture
He also hinted that the Second Semester lectures will start from Monday, May 10, 2021 and to end on Friday July 9, 2021, to be followed by the 2nd Semester Examination commencing from Monday July 19, 2021.
