About four months from now, the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State will be two years old.
There are pointers that his government is keen on building the ruins of the past as evident in the infrastructure revolution he aggressively pursues.
However, the critical circle may argue that, what are the fundamentals that distinguish his administration? It’s the style!
Routine is not only monotonous but inimical to growth and development. What is novel in doing same same thing over and over again?
Governor AbdulRazaq has been able to define his direction which critics must agree; it is his own style. This style has strengthened institutions and government business is more rewarding than ever.
As an instance, civil servants that are entitled to running costs have been drawing as at when due. This is an open-secret. That governance now enjoys technological cooperation is a plus.
The common man in the village or in one remote corner of the State who voted in 2019 with the hope that his vote will represent his voice needs assurance.
The assurance is what Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has brought to bear. This assurance for the common man will forever be taken as an affront by the “privileged class”.
This example should suffice; that the recruitment of more than 4,000 teachers be allowed to go through an open process without influence— when the governor himself washed himself clean of any influence. This is a style that angers the “privileged class.”
Recruitment such as this should have been conceded to the “privileged class” as slots to be shared. Then the ordinary man who laboured to sponsor Joe to school to become the first graduate in their family will continue to recycle woes.
Distribution of amenities appear to have defiled old order with government projects reaching directly to the remotest parts of the State. We have had it so bad that a whole region was once abandoned. The style of giving hope and re-assuring the neglected through purposeful delivery is an affront on the “privileged class.”
The man has weathered the storm for 19 months, very close to his mid-term, he needs to be encouraged to pull through by every meaningful Kwaran.
The ordinary man in Egosi, Adanla, Ilemona, Gwanara, Kemanji, Ile-Apa, Alalubosa amongst other communities in Kwara State must rise and give support to this beacon of hope.
Lati Ojo ti Ofun ti n ko Owu Iya Agba, Aso kilo fi hun (What has the mouse done with threads stolen from grandma in the past? Any cotton made from it?) If the old order has given no hope, the new style is evidently delivering hope as assurance for a better and rewarding future.
