Ogun State Government is fully ready to receive the State's portion of the COVID-19 vaccines, as adequate plans have been put in place for its safe storage and distribution, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed.
Abiodun who stated this at a meeting with the 20 Local Government Transition Chairmen, in Abeokuta, said the entire logistics required for the vaccination has been identified, noting that refrigerators are in good condition to store the vaccines.
"Ogun State is fully ready to receive the COVID-19 vaccines. We have put in place a Solar Cool Chains in every ward in the State. A train the trainer programme for those who will administer the vaccines is ongoing. The vaccines will be administered at all Primary Health Centres (PHCs).
"We have also set guidelines for the National Primary Health Care Development Agency on those we are going to prioritise, which will be our frontline health care workers, who are saddled with the responsibility of reaching out to our people," he said.
The Governor who also stated that his administration is on the verge of rehabilitating another round of PHCs, added that about 300 Centres would be delivered by the end of the present tenure.
The State helmsman called on the Local Government bosses to identify another set of projects that would impact positively on the people, and come up with data on the numbers of youths and women in their areas, to enable them benefit from the Federal Government's Social Intervention Programmes.
