Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has never disappointed in delivering his campaign promises to the good people of Kwara State. We all know how the State was before his emergence. There were lamentations left and right. Our civil servants couldn't feed their families again because they were owed salaries. Our schools were like death traps just like our roads. Our hospitals didn't have the basic things hospitals should have. Birds weren't chirping like bird, and rats weren't squeaking like rat. Humans? They weren't speaking like human. It was that bad!
Of course, if all these things were in place. Like, if salaries weren't owed, hospitals weren't in terrible conditions, and our roads didn't become a death trap, no sane person would say enough is enough (Otoge) nor would Kwarans send the then ruling PDP packing. But we had to when all the opposition party could deliver was bad governance. Or how do we describe a government that failed to pay salaries, and left our schools and hospitals in bad conditions?
The emergence of Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has changed the whole story. And I believe the thousands of Kwarans who made his emergence possible are not regretting in anyway! Unlike the bad old days when our civil servants weren't paid salaries, the present government is paying salaries. It's also implemented the N30,000 minimum wage the previous government failed to implement because it believed our hardworking civil servants didn't worth it. Pathetic.
Today, our hospitals are better. Our roads are being constructed and repaired. These and many others are the reasons why the good people of Kwara want to re-elect Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq again. You must have been hearing and seeing the catchphrase: AA Leekan Si. No doubt, well-meaning Kwarans want him to continue the good works he started. This is how it's in saner climes. They don't oust their working Governors, instead, they re-elect them to continue the good works.
However, despite how Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is leaving no stone unturned and cleaning the mess of the past administration through his glaring good works, incompetent Kwara PDP believes he hasn't done anything to deserve re-election. They say he's not a working governor. I don't know what they mean by that. AA is not working? Laughable!
To the PDP in Kwara state, a working governor is a governor that doesn't pay salaries, promote civil servants, leave children to learn in terrible environments, leave hospitals in sorry state and leave roads in deplorable conditions. The members of the People's Democratic Party in Kwara state believe any governor that does all these things is working. That was why they were cheering the Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration for taking the State to Golgotha. Shameful!
The 2023 governorship election is another great opportunity for Kwarans to reject political slavery and bad governance which were the order of the day before the emergence of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. It's another opportunity to re-elect good governance and reject a party that's determined to ruin the State at all costs and take us back to Egypt.
